My name is Gary Cottage and I grew up in the development and construction industry.  My Grandfather had the vision and wisdom to take vacant land and create communities.  My Uncle was the Engineer who designed everything from lakes to underground utilities, and then made it happen.   My Father was the builder who not only drove the nails but also managed other subs on many simultaneous projects.   Most of the experience I have that applies to home inspections came as a result of working with my father.   During my summer school breaks there was never any question as to what I would be doing or where I would be working.   When Dad didn't need a helper I was farmed out to subs where I quickly learned what a gofer was.  During my high school and college years I generally got jobs to do on my own that ranged from foundation form setting to wiring service panels, and yes they were critically inspected by Dad or one of the subs.

I perform standard home inspections and inspections that include an interior scan with an Infrared camera and /or an initial mold test, or a complete inspection package.  My pricing is competitive.  I will also offer IR only type inspections both interior and exterior.   Thermal Imaging has many applications not just for the home inspector, but for builders as well and I believe the IR technology has a future in the housing industry.  IR has been very successfully used for many years in other industries and is now making its way to the housing industry.

I have completed an ITA Home Inspection course and passed the NHIE exam.  Completed the Level 1 Thermography Certification course at ITC/FLIR Systems that meet ASNT (American Society of Non Destructive Testing) standards and guidelines.  I am qualified to perform non-viable mold testing and disaster housing inspections.   I have a family history in the housing industry which will provide the foundation and confidence required for professional home inspections.  I am an Associate Member of NAHI.

My business is licensed in Loudoun County, Virginia and I carry General Liability and Errors and Omissions Insurance.
